We keep things simple and honest. This page explains what information we collect when you visit or comment on our site, why we collect it, and the choices you have over your data.
Environment Eco Tips is a place to share practical, low-waste living. We collect as little personal data as possible — only what’s needed to run the site, publish your comments, and keep spam out.
01 Who we are
Our website address is https://environmentecotips.com. Throughout this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Environment Eco Tips. If you have any questions, you can reach us at [email protected].
03 Media
If you upload images to the site, please avoid uploading files that contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download images from the site and extract any location data stored in them.
05 Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content such as videos, images, or other articles. Embedded content from another website behaves exactly as if you had visited that other website directly.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content — including tracking it if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
07 How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This lets us recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users who register on the site, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time — except their username, which can’t be changed. Site administrators can also see and edit that information.
08 What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you’ve provided. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you.
Please note
This does not include data we’re required to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
09 Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam-detection service.
Questions about your data?
If you’d like to access, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or if anything here isn’t clear, get in touch and we’ll help.
When you leave a comment on the site, we collect the data shown in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser user-agent string. This helps us detect and filter spam.
An anonymized string created from your email address — also called a hash — may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it. You can read the Gravatar privacy policy at https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public alongside it.
